Tips on Addressing and Mailing:

 Addressing:

·         When addressing envelopes, use your most elegant penmanship or improve plain handwriting with special calligraphy pens.

·         Use full names and formal titles. Do not abbreviate. Do not use symbols, spell out the word “and”.

·         Do not use initials, spell out all names. Do not write “and family” if children are to be included in the invitation. Write the first names of children to be invited below the parent’s names in order of age.

·         Children over the age of 16 should receive a personal invitation.
If you are planning an adult-only celebration omit children’s names.

·         If an invitation to a single guest extends to an unknown escort, address the envelope with your friend’s name followed by “and guest”.

·         Use figures only when writing house numbers and zip codes. Write out the words “Street”, Boulevard”, “Avenue”, “Apartment”, etc. Do not abbreviate province/state names, include postal/zip codes.

Stuffing envelopes:

·         The invitation is inserted in the envelope with the folded edge first and the front cover facing you. Insert all enclosures with the printed side up.

·         If the printed wording is on the inside of a single fold invitation, enclosure cards should be placed inside.

·         If the invitation is folded once with the wording on the front, enclosures are placed in front of the invitation.

·         If the invitation is an accordion fold, French fold or tri-fold, enclosures are placed inside the second half.

·         Before a response card is inserted, the card should be tucked under the flap of the response envelope.

Mailing your invitations:

·         It is advisable to order your invitations in advance if you're planning to invite guests from out of the country. Mail all invitations at the same time, 9-11 weeks prior to your wedding, using first class postage.

·         Make sure you have enough time for addressing, stamping and for last minute additions to your guest list.

·         If you will be enclosing response cards in your invitations, remember to include stamps on the return invitations as well.

·         To avoid postal delays and returned invitations, we strongly recommend that you take fully assembled invitation to the post office to determine proper postage.

·         Be sure to include a return address on each outer envelope. Invitations returned by the post office will allow you to invite those individuals personally.
